Welcome to Torie Tells Stories

My name is Torie Wotton and I’m so glad you’re here! I love exploring and having new experiences. You could invite me to come and try almost anything and the answer will almost always be yes. I’ve been skating since I was three years old and I’m so happy I found synchronized skating so that I can keep participating in the sport I love as an adult. I grew up in rural Manitoba, lived in Ottawa, Ontario for six years and am about to embark on a new adventure in Calgary, Alberta.
When I was 17 years old, I broke my back in five places while downhill skiing. This was a very serious injury and I’m lucky that I am still able to walk. I underwent a major surgery, wore a back brace for three months and put in countless hours of physio and strength training to get to the place I’m in today. I managed chronic pain almost daily for five years. This experience taught me a lot about who I am and kickstarted a healing journey that has made me the person I am today.

I’ve loved reading and writing since I was a kid and I’ve recently discovered the power in sharing your own stories. Everyone’s lived experiences are so different but we’re all so much more alike than we realize.
My stories cover a variety of themes but they all have the same goal: to inspire. So many things feel scary until you do them and I’m here to show you that no matter what obstacles you’re facing, you can do anything you set your mind to.
I share stories about everything from my recovery to my favorite adventures and from my favorite travel tips to the projects I’m working on. Pick a category, search or browse below to get started:
